Surprises at the hobby tournament on 4.10.2025

20 participants took part in the Attention Hobby Tournament on October 4, 2025 in attack. Ambition and fighting spirit were demonstrated in almost 50 games. At the end, there were non-cash prizes for the winners of the A and B competitions as well as points for the Attention ranking list.

Surprises, surprises

In the run-up to this tournament, many would probably have been wrong in their predictions. Over the course of the entire tournament, there were numerous results that fell into the „surprise“ category. This was also due to the fact that some top-class players were taking part for the first time and were therefore ranked further back in the seeding. As usual, the first round decided the rest of the tournament:
The ten winners went on to play in the A competition, the ten losers in the B competition. Even in this first round, there was a „death of the favorites“ - Jürgen Häuselhofer (against Nico Schober), Arnold Pauly (against Morteza Panahi), Miha Hartman (against Jenny Ertl) and Manuel Forrer (against Xin Jin), who had to continue the tournament in the B competition.
Especially Jenny Ertl and Xin Jin shuffled the field in the A-competition on: Jenny defeated Pranav Pramod Patil 21:8, 21:17 in the semi-final; Xin advanced to the final against Mario Diethart with 21:14, 13:21, 21:13. The last match of the day was high-class and exciting: Xin triumphed in the end 23:21, 21:18 against Jenny and thus secured his first Attention Hobby tournament victory.
In the B competition the aforementioned were at least able to limit the damage. Jürgen Häuselhofer won all four of his other matches after losing the first round. In the final, he defeated Manuel Forrer 13:21, 21:13, 21:9. Third place went to Miha Hartman, who came out on top against Arnold Pauly. The performance of David Jin, the youngest participant at the age of nine, who made some of his opponents sweat, was also worthy of mention. Ranking list and other tournaments

According to their rankings, the players received points for the Attention ranking, which shows the results of previous hobby tournaments. In January 2026 there will be the next chance to collect points - more information is available here.
